Dueling Dragons (Orlando)Location: The Lost Continent, Universal Islands of Adventure Our thoughts: What's better than a roller coaster? Well, how about two? Dueling Dragons is two coasters that launch simultaneously and nearly cross paths in a couple of places. Before you can ride, you've gotta choose Fire or Ice. The decision isn't all that critical, as there's not a whole lot of difference between the two. Both are inverted coasters, which means that instead of the bottom of the seats sitting in the track, the top's in the track, and your feet dangle free. They've both got more than their share of inversions and twists. The first time I rode this, I was so focused on just holding on for my life that I didn't even notice the other coaster during the ride. I was more confident the second time around, and I did spot the place where you see the other coaster hurdling toward a head-on collision with you. (I'm still here to write this because that illusion lasts for just a split second, as one curves upward, the other downward.) The intensity was just as high on this one as it was on the larger and more famous Hulk at the other end of Islands of Adventure. The inversion factor gave it a different feel. When you get off and start walking, you'll feel the effect that inverted coasters have on your body. Tip: Front row is a must, even it means a longer wait.
