Dr. Doom's Fear Fall (Orlando)Location: Marvel Super Hero Island, Universal Islands of Adventure Our thoughts: This is a vertical free-fall ride, in the same spirit as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror over at Disney-MGM. But instead of rising and falling in darkness, you're completely exposed, without even a roof over your head, and you're facing away from the tower and can't see it. So when you're being shot up and then free falling, it looks and feels like you're floating in midair. Pretty cool. The ride's towers loom high over Marvel Super Hero Island, giving you a great view of the Incredible Hulk Coaster and the entire park while you're up there. You actually get to go up and down three times, first all the way to the top, and then less on each of the subsequent two. Each of the twin towers accommodates 16 riders (four on each side of the square tower), and the ride itself is very quick, but the lines can still be very long. We figured that the relatively short single-rider line would give us a short wait, but that line actually moved very slowly. Tip: This one's only worth it if the wait is short.
