Wal-Mart Super Center (Orlando)Location: 8101 South John Young Parkway Our thoughts: We visited this positively enormous Wal-Mart, hoping to pick up some groceries for a week of amusement park-going. It's open 24x7. We first visited at 11 p.m. on a Sunday night, and the store was absolutely bustling with activity. Quite bizarre. They stock everything you could possibly ever need to buy, including at least a half-dozen different kinds of taquitos. We grabbed what we needed, headed to the registers, picked one of the shorter long lines, switched to a different long line, and waited. The line moved a little, but then it stopped. There was some sort of negotiation going on ahead of us. It seemed to involve the price of some pants. They didn't seem to be making much progress. After about 15 minutes, we gave up and left, abandoning our cart. Then we headed to the Hess Express next door to get food, which is a story of its own. Tip: When I returned at 7 a.m. on a Friday morning to buy a bag of lime-flavored hot Cheetos, there was no wait.
