Our thoughts: This Mecca for mini-golfers had two 18-hole courses plus a gift shop, a Ben & Jerry's ice cream store and a bar. The whole complex was brand new in 2004, and it looked brand new too, as everything was in great shape.

We played just one of the courses, and it was challenging, with a number of holes that had water obstacles and plenty of steam shooting out of the ground. The centerpiece of one course was a volcano that occasionally eruped with an impressive display of pyrotechnics. Kind of a shock if you were standing right under it ready to swing when it erupted. There were even some holes where the steam was so thick that, depending on wind conditions, you couldn't see the hole from the tee (and yes, this is mini-golf that we're talking about).

Tip: After your finish golfing, get some Ben & Jerry's and kick back and relax while you enjoy your ice cream in the outdoor seating area overlooking the course. But if you're making fun of the other golfers as you watch, make sure to keep your voice down.
