Test Track (Orlando)Location: Epcot Center, Walt Disney World Our thoughts: The Test Track ride is one of the newest rides at Epcot, and also one of the fastest at the Disney World parks. The ride is located in the old pavilion where GM sponsored a tame "World of Motion" exhibit on the history of transportation. It was usually a must-miss whenever we went by there. But after a big renovation, the Test Track is now a must-do. Get there early in the day and try to get a fast pass, because you'll want to ride this many times. Also, the lines tend to get long later in the day, and sometimes the ride breaks down, which makes the wait times even longer. Check for single-rider lines also to shorten your wait time. The ride basically simulates the life of a crash test dummy. You (the dummy) get strapped into a 'car' and you go through the different tests that an automobile goes through, such as steering, braking, heat, cold, etc. The highlight of the ride, however, is when the car starts to accelerate to the brick wall as if you were going to do a crash test, then the wall miraculously opens and you get flung outside. You then get to accelerate to 60 mph with a 50-degree bank, riding around the outside of the building. It's not a roller-coaster type of thrill, but going that fast is pretty cool. Tip: Ride as early as possible and get a fast pass to avoid long lines.
