Pirates of the Caribbean (Orlando)Location: Frontierland, Magic Kingdom, Disney World Our thoughts: Some rides at Disney World could use some updating (Jungle Ride comes to mind), but some are still pretty good despite their age. Pirates of the Caribbean fits in the latter category. The 2003 movie of the same name, starring Johnny Depp, only helps enhance the ride. The ride takes you on a journey back in time to the time of the pirates. You enter a boat that is always running around on a track, and it takes you around with different scenes with the Disney animatronics. Our favorite scene is still the pirate battle between the ship and the fort, with its fake explosions and the fear that a cannonball might hit you. This isn't a thrill ride or a scary ride by any means, so your teen-agers will be pretty bored, but the 8-year-olds will have a blast. After you get off the ride there is a store where you can buy lots of pirate stuff, like fake swords, guns and other clothing. Tip: For fun, go on the ride and then re-watch the movie to see how many "scenes" they re-created from the ride for the movie. There are several.
