Location: 8010 Presidents Drive, off Sand Lake Road

Our thoughts: The most notable thing about Crestwood Suites was the rock-bottom price. For about $40 a night, you get a large room equipped with a kitchen.

There was no pool, nor any other amenities. But there was free Wi-Fi Interweb access. No major complaints about the room, it was all you could expect for the price. There were some kids running around the hallways making more noise than they should have been.

The Sand Lake Road location is a short drive from Universal Orlando and other theme parks, but in the immediate area, there's pretty much nothing. The side street that the hotel is on is basically an industrial park, and the main drag that it's just off of (Sand Lake Road) is pretty much an industrial park in the immediate vicinity. Both streets generally lack sidewalks. Farther down Sand Lake in both directions, there is some strip mall shopping.

If you like to go for a run before heading off to the parks, expect to breathe lots of exhaust fumes and nearly get hit by a few trucks, even if you get up bright and early.

Tip: To annoy your friends here, keep asking them where the pool is.
