Limoliner (New York City)

More New York City Transportation

Location: Boston to NYC/NYC to Boston

Our thoughts: Before Limoliner, we used to take the Delta Shuttle between Boston and NYC. The best part about the shuttle is that it's only a 45-minute flight. The bad part is that it takes an hour (if you're lucky) to get into the airport, plus the cab fare or your long-term parking fees, then an hour to get to your destination in NYC or Boston. Then you have to be at the airport at least an hour before your flight, go through security, etc. You know the drill. All of a sudden a 45-minute flight chews up about three extra hours of your time.

So if you're gonna spend that time to get to NYC (or Boston) anyway, take the Limoliner instead. Instead of a $200 plane fare, a Limoliner is $76 each way. There are two daily departures from each city to the other. Early morning riders on the four-hour direct trip get breakfast, lunch time riders get lunch. Movies are provided, along with satellite radio feeds, power outlets, cell phone service and - best of all - Wi-Fi Interweb access. If you want to work, pull up your tray table and have at it. If you want to snooze or watch a movie, relax in the comfortable cushy seats. Speaking of seats, there are only 28 on the bus, making for a comfortable experience. Limoliner is the way to travel between Boston and NYC.

Tip: If you want to work, book the seat in the rear section of the bus that offers a full RV-style table.
