Skyride New York (New York City)

More New York City Rides

Location: Empire State Building, 2nd floor

Our thoughts: The Web site for the Skyride says it's a 'new' ride, so this opinion might be a little outdated, since we rode it in 1998. We're thinking that the basics of the ride are not any different, hence the reason for writing this.

The ride is basically a 'motion simulator' and movie that tries to take you on a virtual helicopter ride of some of the different sites of New York City. At the time there was a horrible narration by Yakov Smirnoff, we're not sure if he's still doing the narration. There wasn't much motion going on, maybe a couple of turns and dips, but nothing to worry about if you've ever been on an amusement park roller coaster (or even a ferris wheel).

We got this as part of a package deal where we could buy tickets to that and the observatory to the Empire State Building. Skip this ride and just go to the observatory. Even if someone gives you discounted or free tickets to this, don't go -- you'll want your time back after you ride this.

Tip: Don't go on this ride. Consider yourself warned.
