One don't-miss attraction is definitely the Theater of Electricity, where the world's largest air-insulated Van de Graaff generator stars in educational presentations featuring huge sparks of lightning. Quite cool. Other pemanent exhibits include Mathematica, The Big Dig (examining Boston's giant construction project) and The Computing Revolution (which overlooks the Theater of Electricity). One of the newest permanent exhibits is the Butterfly Garden, where you can walk among an indoor habitit featuring a wide array of butterfly species. The museum has several theaters:
Coming this fall, the museum will feature the premier of the traveling exhibit Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination. The museum's Charles River location is not far from downtown Boston, a short walk from the Green Line (Science Park or Lechmere) and a little farther from the Red Line (Kendall Square). For those adventurous enough to drive in Boston, the Museum does offer its own parking garage. On the first floor, between the main entrance at the Omni/Planetarium area, a large gift shop has all sorts of science-related toys, and the Galaxy Cafes offer several food choices. Tip: For more food choices, take a short walk from the museum to the CambridgeSide Galleria.
