Taste test: I think these are peanuts, and they have a nice, spicy, hot flavor.
(I'm not entirely sure they're peanuts, because there are no ingredients listed, and it says "a southwest chili nut" on the package. But they do taste and look a lot like peanuts.) Some of the chip bowl regulars tried these and complained they weren't all that hot, but a minute or two later, they returned to say that they were indeed hot, but it just took a couple of minutes post-eating for the heat to build up. For others, the heat hit was immediate. It might take a minute, but the heat level is impressive. People kept returning to the chip bowl for a few more of these.
