Taste test: These Swiss Rolls changed the standard recipe a bit, as they replaced the typical white creme with a chocolate creme, so instead of contrasting with the flavor of the chocolate cake, it matched it while providing a different texture. The package described it as "Double Chocolate," but it was actually triple, as there were also wiggles of dark chocolate frosting on the top. This all seemed like a good opportunity for a major chocolate rush, as well as a particularly strong incentive to try these with cold milk.
The package came with two rolls, and they were each impressively big, especially considering that this was a dollar store purchase. I bit in to find and soft feel and lots of chocolate as expected, and the creme had kind of a chocolate pudding taste to it. I only had enough milk on hand for a small glass of it, so my plan was to only eat only one of the rolls. The plan was already out the window when I realized that I was almost done with the second one. The mix of different kinds of chocolate was really quite good, and it went particularly well with milk, even if I didn't have enough.
