Rold Gold Pretzel Thins Three Cheese
Taste test: This new creation from pretzel industry big boy Rold Gold was just the latest to follow the lead of Pretzel Crisps, flattening the pretzel rather than giving it a round profile. They didn't keep the conventional knotted pretzel shape in this case, but instead made their own new shape, sort of a double know, symmetrical on two different axes and containing five holes rather than three.
We crunched in to find a crisp, soft crunch and a zesty mix of cheeses with some salt. Surprisingly, the texture felt quite different from Pretzel Crisps, with a more brittle, crumbly crunch and a less pretzel-like feel. It still tasted good, and the flavoring was very nice, but it seemed less like a pretzel than the various other flattened pretzels. Still, many of our snackers quickly became fans thanks to the zesty cheese taste.
