Taste test: These coated peanuts were fairly large, as the "cracker coating" (consisting mostly of wheat flour and barley flour) was fairly thick. A close look at the surfaces revealed some extremely tiny black bits among the seasoning, so if they used black pepper (and the ingredients show they did) then it was ground up very finely.
We crunched in to find a very nice crispness and excellent light crunch, with a nice mix of flavors from the coating and the nuts. However, having eating many salt & pepper snacks over the years, we can say that this one had a pepper taste a lot like the size of those ground-up black pepper bits: very small. There was just the slightest, slightest hint of black pepper to taste if we looked for it. Some people could taste it; others could not. If it hadn't said "Salt & Pepper" on the bag, people might not have noticed it at all. Still, these were good coated peanuts, and everyone who tried them praised the texture and taste.
