Taste test: With many starch-coated peanuts already reviewed, this kind stood out on the store shelf for its Tom Yum flavor, as the Thai hot and sour soup is part of my standard order at Thai restaurants.
I opened the can to find that the peanuts had somewhat uneven coatings, as they looked a bit lumpy, with a light orange/beige color on the exteriors. I crunched in to find a nice light crispy feel from the coating, followed by lots of tasty peanut. The hot peppers in the coating came along in the aftertaste, not super-hot but reasonably hot, with a lingering hot aftertaste.
Did it taste like Tom Yum soup? Certainly not perfectly, but the aftertaste kind of did, as it combined the hot peppers with a hint of shrimp/fishiness and tasted pretty good. But if the can hadn't said "Tom Yum" on it, I doubt that I would have guessed that it was supposed to be the flavor.

Smell test: Strong spicy peanuts smell. Kind of fishy too. Remotely like Tom Yum soup.
