Taste test: It's a new kind of Cheez-It — not just a new flavor, but a whole new shape, and atypically for Cheez-Its, this one comes in a bag instead of a box. The pieces were much larger than regular Cheez-Its, with the shape of a parallelograms but not quite a rhombus, as two of the sides were slightly shorter than other two. The surfaces were generally wavy and far from flat. There generally was a hole near the center, then additional ones near each of the four corners, but in many cases, some of the holes seemed to have disappeared during the cooking process. They had a fairly bright orange color.
We crunched in to find a different feel from regular Cheez-Its, with a light, crisp crunch that was indeed snappier. The cheese taste was very nice, quite a good hit of cheddar, really not that different of a taste than regular Cheez-Its in the end, but the change of texture did make for a different experience. The bag explained that Double Cheese meant that there was cheese in the cracker itself, plus more added as seasoning on the surfaces, and that did seem to be the case, as a bit of cheese powder residue ended up on the fingertips. A good one.
