Taste test: To understand these somewhat confusingly named cookies, it helps a lot to understand what Cookie Butter is. (If you're fortunate enough to already know, skip to the next paragraph.) Cookie Butter is this awesome stuff that comes in a jar resembling peanut butter, has about the same color and consistency as peanut butter — and tastes like cookies! (I ate my way through a couple of jars of Cookie Butter a few years before discovering these cookies, so I wasn't quite so confused by the cookies.)
What they've done here is taken sets of two smallish, round butter cookies and joined them into sandwiches, with Cookie Butter as the filling. It's kind of a weird concept, because the whole idea of Cookie Butter is that it tastes like cookies but isn't cookies, and yet now they've taken it and made it part of a cookie sandwich.
The box contained a tray holding 18 sandwiches, and they were somewhat irregularly shaped and uneven, much like the ones pictured on the box. We crunched in to find some very tasty cookies, with a good light crunch, and plenty of great taste from both the Cookie Butter taste and cookies. It was on the sweet side, but not overly sweet. We shared the box with lots of snackers and found many fans and just a few detractors. Very good!
