Taste test: These Oreos from Japan broke the Oreos formula pretty much entirely, as they were neither sandwiches nor even round. They promised a flavor that I haven't seen in any of the round Oreo sandwiches, so I won't dwell any more on whether they should be sold as Oreos. Each one was individually wrapped in blue foil, about an inch and half long, three-quarters of an inch thick and wide, with a flat bottom and lumpy sides and top. The exteriors were coated in milk chocolate.
I bit in to find a soft feel, with the inside consisting of dark bits of Oreo cookie (OK, there was something Oreo about them!), plus small bits of macadamia, surrounded by sort of a creamy chocolate. There was an intense chocolate taste, mildly nutty and just really tasty. I didn't notice much of a nutty feel or crunch from the macadamia nuts, but there was a hint in the taste. I ate just one of the cookies and shared around the rest of the bag, and everyone who tried one was impressed by the taste. Some people did complain about a waxy aftertaste.
