Taste test: This version of Chips Ahoy! misled me a bit. A quick look at the package had me expecting the cookies to contain Reese's Pieces as well as the usual chocolate chips. I didn't see the word "chocolate" specifically, but given the Chips Ahoy name and they way that the package was split between Chips Ahoy blue and Reese's orange sure made me think peanut butter and chocolate.
Similar snacks
So I ate a few cookies and found that there were varying levels of peanut butter, but there seemed to be little to no chocolate. It took a very careful reading of the fine-print Ingredients to determine that there wasn't supposed to be any chocolate. A closer look also revealed that the chips pictured were peanut butter chips, not chocolate chips. (The brown shells on some of the Pieces had me thinking — incorrectly — that I saw some chocolate pieces in the cookies.) What the Ingredients did include was actually three different kinds of Reese's: Reese's Mini Pieces Candy, Reese's Peanut Butter Flavored Chips and Reese's Peanut Butter Flavored Sauce.
Some of the cookies had not-quite-enough peanut butter, while others had just about the right amount. The ones with more peanut butter were pretty good, as the three different Reese's components provided a good sweet PB taste. But overall, more peanut butter was needed, and the packaging needed to be clearer that these were peanut butter cookies, not PB & chocolate cookies.
