Taste test: This bag contained five different bright colors of sugar-coated chickpeas — white, orange, pink, yellowish green and greenish green. They looked kind of like mini brains.
I crunched in to find initially mostly a sweet taste, followed immediately by some of the chickpea flavor. It was a very weird combination, and I really didn't like it much at all. Once the chickpea taste went away, there was some sugar again in the aftertaste, and that was OK. I like a number of foods made with chickpeas — hummus and falafel come to mind — but this one didn't work for me.
There were lots and lots of chickpeas in the bag, so I shared them around with some other snackers. Surprisingly, most thought that the taste was pretty good, but some agreed that it was just a terrible combination.
