Taste test: These chips were roundish and had a golden beige color with some black spots in many of the chips and bubbles of various sizes in most of them.

We crunched in to find a soft crunch with a low level of crispness, followed by a mild spicy and sweet chili flavor. The chili was flavorful, but it was fairly short-lived, as it was followed by a plainer chickpea taste, which in turn was followed by a hot aftertaste. We shared these with a large group of snackers who had never seen anything like them before, and people ended up being big fans, praising the taste and crunching their way through the whole bag in short order. Very good!

Smell test: Very strong sweet chili smell.

From the package: “crispy chickpea and rice snack” ... “The Chickpea is a Champion! Chickpeas are loaded with protein, fiber and flavor. My Chickpea Chips combine this glorious bean with rice and sesame seeds, much like the South Indian snack murukku. Their savory goodness comes from the Asian spice asafetida.”
