Taste test: These chips were fairly thick and square, measuring about an inch on each side, with subtle ripples.
The chips themselves didn't look all that black, as they were sort of purplish gray, not much different from Grains of Wellness' Red Rice Chips, but these were bit darker. The other similarity to the Red Rice ones was that these were really good too. They had a good crispness, nice soft crunch and mild rice flavor, brought out by just bit of salt. We shared these with one of our vegan friends, who thought they had a black bean type of flavor and liked them a lot. She ended up hiding the box to avoid eating them all at once!

Smell test: Not much, but sort of remotely sweet.
From the package: “Did you know what makes black rice, black? It's natural phytonutrients called anthocyanins — the same pigments that give blueberries their blue color! And that's what gives our wholegrain black rice chips there their distinctive color. By using this delicious black rice, we created a wholesome gluten-free rice chip, with no artificial colors, no artificial flavors, no artificial anything!” ... “Product of Thailand” .... “Ingredients: Wholegrain Black Rice, Expeller-pressed palm oil, Salt"
