Taste test: These potato chip were cut thick and had medium-width ripples, with various shades of yellow and brown, plus lots of skin around the edges. They looked really nice. Sizes varied, but some of the chips were impressively huge (especially for a small bag) and the large ones tended to be long and narrow, an unusual shape for potato chips.
We crunched in to find a texture that was about as perfect as a potato chip can get — the cut was thick, with a crunch that varied from somewhat soft to fairly strong, with a perfect crispness throughout. The heat level varied from chip to chip, but both the hot ones and the not-so-hot ones had a mix of spices that was quite nice, and the potato flavor was so strong and so good that either way, you couldn't miss it. As with the original Billy Goat chips, which lacked the spices and the ripples, these were some of the best potato chips we've ever tried. The rich potato taste and incredible texture carried the day.
Smell test: Very nice! Oddly, reminds me of veal cutlet.
From the package: “Like the majestic hills that be sure-footed Billy Goat climbs, these ridges are fantastic, with a kick that just may come as a surprise. Enjoy the handcrafted dedication.”
