Taste test: This candy bar from Hershey's was unexpected in so many ways! Since it said Hershey's, I expected a chocolate bar, but there was no chocolate. Well, at least a Hershey bar would have a grid of sections with the Hershey's logo on each. Nope: It had the rectangular sections, but they rearranged them in a whole new way, with six vertical sections and three horizontal ones. I certainly expected to find peanuts and pretzels in the bar, because the label clearly said "Peanuts & Pretzels," but when I bit in, there weren't sizable bits of anything in there.
The bar had a light brownish beige color, reasonably gold-like, with some bits of stuff showing through the top and some bumps on the bottom. The feel of the caramelized cream was about the same as Hershey's chocolate, and the crunchy bits of pretzel and peanut that I expected seemed to be absent; that is, I could taste peanut and pretzel (particularly bits of salt from the pretzel), but not particularly feel those things. It seems they broke those things into such tiny pieces that I didn't know they were there.
The result of all this was a really good bar. It was like eating peanut brittle but with an entirely different texture — the softness of Hershey's chocolate bar but the taste of peanut brittle.
