Taste test: This bag contained thick pieces of vegetarian jerky with a dark, beef-like color and in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Upon biting in, I found that it had a chewy texture, not bad, but somehow chewy in a very different way than meat. Even though it was quite dense, there was something of a tofu feel to it. I've had quite a few pastrami sandwiches in my day, and this didn't look or taste anything like pastrami. The taste was more like a heavily seasoned beef briscit (though the texture was not), with a hot lingering aftertaste. As a non-vegetarian, I would pick real jerky over this any day of the week, but if you're unwilling to eat meat, this could make a decent snack.
