Boston's "Big Papi" David Ortiz swings away on March 8, 2008, during the Dodgers' final season at Dodgertown.
The dugouts aren't actually dug out — they're right on the field.

More Florida Spring Training Stadiums

Location: Vero Beach

Our thoughts: The Dodgers left their longtime Spring Training home in Vero Beach midway through 2008, as they packed up to finish the 2008 spring at their new home in Glendale, Arizona. For 2009, this stadium is vacant.

For the Dodgers, the move made some sense to get their training base closer to their Los Angeles fan base. But this classic stadium was a longtime fan favorite.

As you approach the stadium from the parking lot, it doesn't even look like a stadium, as the berms behind the outfield dominate. The setting inside is very intimate, as there are no real dugouts, so the players sit directly in front of the first row of fan seats. Berm seats ring the outfield.

Concessions were numerous, both along the concourse above the seats, and behind the seating area — including a BBQ Bullpen.
