Venetian Grand Canal Shoppes (Las Vegas)Location: Venetian Hotel & Casino Our thoughts: The Grand Canal Shoppes are the Venetian's upscale shopping center, housed within the hotel and bordering the Grand Canal on both sides. The Shoppes are worth a visit just to spy the man-made canal and its gondola rides and singing gondoliers; the nifty faux blue-sky ceiling; and the replica of St. Mark's Square. The Shoppes also feature street performers throughout the day in St. Mark's Square, including those crazy-scary human statues that randomly start moving to scare the bejeezus out of passers-by. The Shoppes themselves defintiely trend toward the well-to-do, with an emphasis on jewelers, galleries and other places where the newly rich are likely to splurge after hitting big in the casino. This is not the place to find used card decks from various casinos or dice with your name on them. Tip: If a store is called a "shoppe" chances are it's too rich for your blood.
