Village Seafood Buffet (Las Vegas)Location: Rio Hotel, 3700 W. Flamingo Our thoughts: If you love seafood and all of the different ways that you can cook seafood, you will love the Village Seafood Buffet. Fried, grilled, shucked, or broiled, it's all here. In addition, this restaurant has other standard buffet fare, such as a salad bar, dessert bar, pasta dishes, meat carving stations, etc. Because seafood is generally more expensive (especially in the desert of Las Vegas), the price for the buffet is higher than other buffets in the area (one cabbie told us the price was a rip-off, but we think the cabbies in Las Vegas are generally cranky about everything anyway). While it's all-you-can-eat, after a while of downing shrimp (especially the fried shrimp), your stomach will give up and you'll feel like you still haven't eaten your money's worth (don't fill up on bread). I guess your enjoyment of this buffet depends on how much you enjoy seafood if you like the different varieties, go nuts if all you like is shrimp, it's not worth it. The dessert bar has a variety of different pies and cakes, so you should be happy there if you still have room left over for dessert. The servers were very pleasant in bringing you drinks and extra silverware or napkins, so be sure to give them a nice tip. Tip: Don't sit next to the automated ticket-dispensing machines (which have replaced the cashiers). If you do you'll have to listen to the machine spew out sea-faring slang all night, or watch dumb patrons try to figure out how to operate the machine.
