Red White and Blue (Las Vegas)Location: Mandalay Bay Our thoughts: The pitch for the Red White and Blue restaurant reads "Three distinct American dining experiences ranging from sandwiches to seafood to a variety of tasty sweets. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and to go." We only got to eat breakfast there (we may try other "experiences" during future trips) during a somewhat crowded trade show, so we had to wait a few minutes to get our table. Once we got there, we waited a while for the waiter to show up and take our order. The restaurant sold typical breakfast fare (eggs, omelettes, pancakes, french toast, etc.) at outrageous prices, though if you are wealthy enough to stay at the Mandalay Bay hotel in the first place you probably won't mind the prices. One of us had an omelette (no complaints) while the other had a stack of pancakes. The pancakes come with your choice of fruit toppings, but we chose to get them plain. We know why they come with fruit toppings -- they were incredibly dry, despite the butter melting on top. We had to ask and wait for (again) a bottle of syrup. The side orders of bacon and English muffin were excellent, and helped with the dryness of the pancakes. They served everything on gigantic plates, taking up the entire space of the tiny table we were seated at. Giant televisions are also placed around the restaurant, so you can catch up on SportsCenter while you dine (at least during breakfast). Leaving the restaurant we spotted a dessert refrigerator that had lots of pastries, cakes and pies, so we will definitely stop by during our next trip to try the other "two" experiences. Tip: Catch the eye of the waiter as soon as you're seated to shorten the wait.
