Taste: These in-shell sunflower seeds were definitely on the big side (as the bag promised "jumbo") with just a hint of orange-colored seasoning on the white areas of the shells. I tend to prefer to be given just the kernels, as it's always a lot of work to remove the shells, but I worked with what I was given here. For the first few seeds, I broke open the shells with a joint effort between my teeth and hands — they were harder to break than most sunflower seeds I've tried — and ate the kernels to find that they tasted good but pretty much like ordinary sunflower seeds, with no special flavor. After eating several this way, I realized that the seasoning was all on the shell, so my eating method had kind of defeated the purpose of Crab Seeds. I proceeded to suck on a few of the shells to find a very tasty seasoning, like Old Bay. The level of flavor varied from one piece to the next, and some were super-intense and quite hot. I don't quite have the hang of opening and separating shells in my mouth, so after sucking one, I broke it open with my teeth/hands as before and ate the seed. The taste of the seeds was even better with the seasoning already on my taste buds. If you have skillz to eat in-shell sunflower seeds the way that most people do, you'll probably enjoy these even more. Very nice!
