Clif Mojo Mountain Mix Sweet & Salty Trail Mix Bar

Clif Mojo Mountain Mix Sweet & Salty Trail Mix Bar

Buy Clif Bars at Amazon.com

Taste: This bar was billed as containing almonds, peanuts, raisins and chocolate chips. However, peeling open the wrapper to see one side of the bar and consulting the ingredients, it looked like it was mostly made from soy rice crisps, mixed in with almonds, raisins, pretzels, pumpkin seeds and peanuts. I didn't see any chocolate chips at first, but there turned out to be a number of the visible on the opposite surface of the bar. The base taste of the bar was kind of gritty and not particularly appetizing. It did improve a bit when I bit into a raisin or chocolate chip, but the soy rice crisps were really this bar's undoing. The issue wasn't so much the sweet elements vs. the salty elements, but the gross ones vs. the edible ones. In this case, the gross ones won out.

Aroma: Not a whole lot, but I think I could smell the almonds.

From the package:

"Almonds, peanuts, raisins & chocolate chips" ... "70% organic" ... "Not your ordinary snack. So there's this trail mix bar, right? We call it Clif Mojo. It's pretty darn good. Clif Mojo is all about getting out there, trying new things, combining new flavors and textures, and respecting the planet by using as many organic ingredients as possible. And because it's got all sort of sweet & salty stuff in it, your body will dig it too."
