 | | | Tropical Gourmet Plantain Chips SpicyBuy snacks at Amazon.com Taste: These plantain chips had a mildly diagonal cut, so the chips were not huge but not round either, but generally just a bit oblong. The chips had a golden orange color, with some flavor powder visible. When I crunched in, I got pretty much the usual plantain chips flavor, with just the slightest additional spices, if any. However, in the aftertaste, an unexpected heat really kicked in, and I could feel a strong burn in the back of my throat. Beyond the taste of the chips, I really liked the colorful creatures depicted on the bag, which included a toucan, a parrot, a hummingbird, a turtle and a tiger.
