Taste: These were the plantain version of potato sticks, with the same basic shape, except made from plantains instead of potatoes. They were very good, with a strong, fresh plantain taste, quite flavorful. They were quite a bit less greasy than your typical potato sticks. The bag contained a handful (though not a lot) of double-wide pieces where the cutter didn't quite work, so those a nice bonus. Our tasters liked these a lot.
"Crunch, Crunch, Crunch ... A melt in your mouth taste and you have just discovered the unique flavor of a green plantain chip. Their name is Chifles (pronounced chief-les). The plantain is a fruit that is imported from the same tropical countries as babanas. They are similar in appearance, but a plantain is larger and is eaten either green or ripe only when cooked."
