 | | | Chifles Plantain ChipsBuy snacks at Amazon.com Taste: These plantain chips had a golden yellow/brown color and were generally oval-shaped, some as much as twice as wide as they were tall. There were a lot of chips in the bag, but because the chips were so flat, the were all piled densely near the bottom of the bag. They tasted pretty good, with a fresh plantain taste, a nice flavor. They were crisp with a soft crunch, typical of plantain chips. The salt level was low, which made the true plantain flavor come through, but a bit more salt might have been a good addition. "Crunch, Crunch, Crunch ... A melt in your mouth taste and you have just discovered the unique flavor of a green plantain chip. Their name is Chifles (pronounced chief-les). The plantain is a fruit that is imported from the same tropical countries as babanas. They are similar in appearance, but a plantain is larger and is eaten either green or ripe only when cooked."
