Taste test: Within the potato chips category, it's rare to see much in the way of true innovation, especially with regard to shapes or recipes (though we often find innovative flavors). So it was great that Cape Cod came up with something brand new here. With these chips, it was like they took the process that cuts ordinary medium-width rippled chips, but changed it so that the top and bottom of each chip are cut at different angles. The chips sure looked cool. They weren't all the same, as the angle between the two cuts varied anywhere from about 90 degrees to 30. They only loosely resembled waffles fries (like the ones at Chick-fil-A) as these ripples were quite a bit narrower, and the cut not as thick. But the cut was still plenty thick and the waffle-cut ripples gave these chips lots of surface area to expose the great potato taste, plus a great crunch, quite different from normal rippled chips. Excellent new chip from Cape Cod!

Aroma: Mild potato smell.

From the package: "For 30 years, our original potato chip set the standard for a robust crunch and hearty potato flavor. Then we discovered this double sliced waffle cut. This is a potato chip unlike any other. Almost like eating two chips at once, you taste even more real, hearty potato flavor accented with a light crunch of sea salt. These are chips made for people who loved to crunch."
