Taste test: Here at Taquitos.net, we review many kinds of snacks, including snacks containing cereal, but we've chosen not to go on a quest to try every possible box of cereal. Because of our hunger to try every Oreo, this box of cereal seemed worth making an exception.
The O-shaped pieces were fairly large as O-shaped cereals go, with generally a light gray color on the outside but also many lighter and darker spots, so they highly resembled the ones pictured on the box. I poured myself a small bowl of them (without milk) and crunched in to find a stronger crunch than other similarly shaped cereals, certainly stronger than Cheerios, but also stronger than sugary ones like Froot Loops and Apple Jacks. The taste was sweet but hardy reminded me of Oreo cookies at all. After the sweetness wore off, there was a slight aftertaste that I didn't like. I bit open a piece to see the cross-section, and the interior was much darker than the gray exterior. The lighter exterior didn't feel or taste like a frosted cereal. I couldn't taste any chocolate. All in all, Oreo O's cereal didn't taste like Oreos, so I was not impressed.
The back of the box strongly encouraged trying these with milk — much as they do with Oreo cookies — so I decided to make that part of the review. They were certainly better with milk than without. The taste did at least slightly remind me of Oreos, but I doubt I would have identified the connection in a blind test. If you want the taste of Oreos dipped in milk, by all means dip your Oreos in milk, because you won't get it from this cereal.
Aroma: Maybe sort of a hint of the Oreo creme, but all in all not like Oreos at all.
